We also hope to raise awareness for what it is we actually do. With the increasing popularity of television shows like NCIS and CSI, it seems the general public may have a few misconceptions that we at Last Responder are hoping to clear up!

We appreciate your support. We welcome, and encourage, you to share any comments and suggestions as to what you would like to see here. You can keep the criticisms to yourself! Just kidding, don't hold back, we can take it.

Death Investigation

What is a Medicolegal Death Investigator?

The role of a Medicolegal Death Investigator (MDI) is to investigate any death that falls under the jurisdiction of the medical examiner or coroner, including all suspicious, violent, unattended, unexplained and unexpected deaths.

Also known as the last responders, MDI's are city or county government officials responsible for determining the cause and manner of death in circumstances that require a coroner's investigation.

Coroner/Medicolegal Death Investigator Recognition Week is officially here!!

We are so happy to announce that the week of January 27 - February 2nd, has been designated as National Coroner/Medicolegal Death Investigator Recognition Week, with Appreciation Day being January 29th!

Please take a moment to contact your local Coroner/Medical Examiner's Office and say thank you for all the hard work they do in your community. The service they provide is often overlooked and grossly underestimated. We want to change that! Let's show them we appreciate all the care and compassion they put in to taking care of our loved ones during their final chapter.
